Recycling chopped tinned copper wire

1998

I'm interested in recycling chopped tinned copper wire.

For this purpose I need to remove the tin from the copper completely. Then the copper would be converted to oxygen free copper rod by a continuous casting process. No traces can be left on the wire, since our limit on impurities is 10 ppm for tin ( more would affect the conductivity of copper). I've been told that leaching and electrowinning is the only solution.

I'm open to hear some solutions from the experts.

Dear Mr. De Bei,

hello, I am currently researching about detinning, but I don't know that much information. I am doing this for a friend from the Philippines. I was wondering if you could help me with my research.

Hi, folks. It seems to me we have three responders, all of whom have some experience and expertise in this, claiming they are willing to share, but none actually making the move :-)

It's not that hard, people, you simply say: "XXX is the process I use, but we only get YYY efficiency, and we also have a problem with ZZZ" :-)
