Ugly white patches on bronze statue

I have a bronze statue in the back yard on which the finish has partially flaked off, leaving ugly white patches. The "green" patina also looks much the worse for age. How can I restore this statue? I know I need to clean it first, but with what? Then do I sand it? Finally, what type of material do I use to replace the "green" patina? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there are ugly white patches, the statue is probably not copper/bronze/brass. It may be plaster, fiberglass, zinc die-cast, pewter, or aluminum. Unfortunately, you need to know what it is before you can get much help restoring it.

But the easiest route to the green patina you are seeking is probably Jax. Good luck.

I agree with what M. Mooney states. There is a process, that regardless of the material, will restore your object. However, there is a significant cost.

Personally, I would not attempt this yourself. If it is an object that you are attached to, and is an item which you would like to keep, leave it to the pros.
