Seeking detailed info on anodising and dyeing copper

Aloha, Much appreciation to anyone able to advise regarding anodising & subsequent dyeing of Cu. Recently found a jewelry supplier who offers a large array of colours in copper wire stating it to be anodised, otherwise did not realise it to be an option for jewelry metals other than Aluminum.

Denise,

You are right, copper cannot be anodised and dyed. Either they are actually offering aluminium or have used some other method of processing and called it anodising. The "other" method I have in mind is electroplating with a white metal - nickel, for example - coating this with a resin and dyeing the resin.

If you can obtain a sample, scrape off the coating and look at the color of the substrate.
