Rust on inner diameter (Surface Area)

I'm having a problem on how to troubleshoot the washer type item that we are processing in our line. There were occurrence of somewhat like rust or stain on its inner surface diameter.Our type of plating is barrel. Any suggestion from the plating experts on how to eliminate this kind of rejection? Process details below.

Before we can help you we could use more info. What is the base material? What type of media are you using in the barrel? Have you checked the Ni plating thickness on the problem parts to rule out inconsistent electrical contact within the barrel? Look forward to hearing from you.
