Screw plating process

Hi we are precision screw manufacturing company and we a have a student who wants to start up a project of plating the screws. Can I have informations on basic plating process and what are the chemicals that are used.

Please have him start with the Metal Finishing Guidebook. It is inexpensive, broad in scope, and highly topical. There are so many issues, like safety, environmental responsibility, acid zinc vs. alkaline zinc vs. alloy zinc, chromating in compliance with RoHS, etc., that it would be foolish for him to try to start without at least one good book under his belt.
