Large plates are now being coated in a number of places by PVD. A variety of coatings can be deposited, including titanium nitride, which has a gold color, chromium nitride, which is silver or gray, zirconium nitride, which is a light gold in color, and aluminum titanium nitride, which is black. Rainbow effects are possible with titanium oxide. All of these coatings are pretty hard, and if thick enough can be pretty scratch resistant. I don't know about India, but the process is commercially available in Europe, the United States, and China. There's a German company that sells the production equipment.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
