Wire Basket for Dishwasher needs Re-coating

I have a wire (vinyl coated) dishwasher basket that has some erosion/corrosion of the vinyl coating. This has exposed the wire, which now has some rust spots. The entire wire basket is very expensive to replace. What types of vinyl coated paints or sealers could I apply to the surface of the basket, and that would be suitable for up to 140 degrees fahrenheit and hygienic/safe for this application?
