Although anodes may be slabs of the metal we wish to plate with ('stick anodes'), in other cases we put balls or chunks of the metal into a perforated basket instead.
In some cases the baskets may be made of steel (if the plating solution is alkaline and non-corrosive to steel), but the most common material to build anode baskets from is titanium.
