Thanks for the memories.

Apr 28, 2004

I only attended OLAS for a couple of years when I was in second and third grade there. Lived at 200 4th. Avenue right next to Columbian Field entrance. Played with Billy Schmidt and Bob Detore as well as Ike? the son of the Dr. on the corner of Grove and 4th.

Remember enjoying the popcorn balls the nun sold at snack time. Would have been a 1959 graduate but moved to Holy Name School on the other side of town. Graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in 1963 with a whole bunch of OLAS alums. Really enjoy this site and suppose I've reached the age where looking back comes naturally. Best Wishes to all of you and if you are interested in posting memories or photos to a broader interest you may like to visit a group site I initiated at msn: http://groups.msn.com/theorangesessexcountynj

That would have been Ike Foley (Class of 1960, I believe). Regrettably, in another message here it was reported that Ike was passed away. Sadly, Billy Schmidt as well. But Bob Detore is Mayor of Verona last I heard.

Thanks for the link!

Hi Ted - I was very sorry to hear of Ike Foley's passing - He was a great guy - has anyone heard from anyone who graduated in 1960 - I am always hoping to see some familiar names, Artie Peck, Bob Meserlin, Mary Ghirlanda and many more. This is a great link. Thanks for the memories. Grace

Regarding James "Ike" Foley. I was visiting home in Manasquan, NJ and reading the Newark Star Ledger obits when I came across Ike's obit. I was totally shocked! The Ledger reported that Ike broke his neck in pool diving incident.

He was such a funny guy; the recipient of my first "crush"; not that he ever knew it. But he sat behind me in Sister Rita's 7th grade class, and I vowed every day to turn around and tell him how I felt. Apparently, though, the love of his life was Maureen Crotty, also from the Class of 1960.

I attended OLAS K-4th grades (1958-1963), when we moved to Matawan, NJ. I was one of 7 Maidment kids, the oldest being Mark, then Sharon, me, Donna, Jamie, Jessica, Linda. I would love to correspond with someone from who might have known one of us from those years. The only name I remember was my best friend, Denise D'Adamo. Denise - are you out there somewhere?

As noted above I would have been class of 1959 but moved to Doddtown section of EO and went to Holy Name School.
