Scratches in Aluminum

If I wet and dry nasty scratches before the aluminium is put in a graining machine is it a bad idea as it makes the surface slightly uneven?

Anna,

Your question is a bit confusing. All metals have a grain structure to them; however, most are not obvious. Scratches really usually have nothing to do with grain. If you want to put a texture on your parts, I think you are talking about a belt type system; therefore, no pretreatment is necessary before application or pressure of part to belt or vice versa.
