Nitriding cost info...

We have an enquiry from a customer who desires a part plated with 50 millionths gold, or possibly a zirconium nitride finish. Can anyone tell me what this small copper part, approx. 2 inches square, would cost for nitriding? We would do any base plating, if required.

Hello George!

ZrN is often applied using a Physical Vapor Deposition process, which if done right will give you a gold looking coating with far better wear resistance. Coating thickness is a few microns: one micron is 40 millionths. There are a number of folks who do this process well. Perhaps some of them are wise enough to support this site. Obviously, contacting them would be the best way to get pricing information.
