-----Coating for Steel to Aluminum Interface
2001
A 2" ID 4130 steel band is to be heated and then placed over an aluminum boss, sized so that when the steel cools there is an interference fit. Is there a coating appropriate for either the steel ID or the aluminum OD that will help reduce fretting when loads are applied to the steel band? Is there an adhesive or "paint" appropriate for this purpose that will tolerate the 800°F steel temperature?
Thank you.
