Options for Gold Plating Acrylic Plastic Resins?

I need a temporary solution for a few special display projects. I will be casting several objects in an acrylic resin and need to gold plate them. Several of the objects are long (3 foot) strips of trim and 3 are statuettes (about 1 foot high each.) Taking money, time and quality into account, what would you suggest I do:

1)seek the local services of a gold plating company?; 2)lease or purchase one of the kits?
