Nitriding Books and Articles

I would like to know where I can find some references (books, articles, etc) on Gas Nitriding of steels (H-11, Nitralloy, CPM10V, etc). Specific titles of books, articles would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Kelly!

Some good ones are published by ASM International, www.asm-intl.org. Two specific books that come to mind are the Source Book on Nitriding, which is a compilation of classic papers in the field, and Volume 4 on Heat Treating of the ASM Handbook: nitriding is addressed by about 50 pages in that book, and other articles cover auxiliary topics, like measurement of case depth.

Two magazines that sometimes deal with nitriding are Industrial Heating, and Gear Technology, both published by Business News Publishing. The web addresses of both are the name of the magazine followed by .com. Both are free to qualified folks, so you can get your own subscription easily.

Another place to ask this question would be the discussion boards at metaltreatingmall.com,[Ed. note: that website appears to now be defunct] and on the sci.engr.metallurgy newsgroup. The newsgroup especially gets a lot of traffic.

Good Luck!
