Cause of Yellow Discoloration in Anodized Finish

I would like to know why a part plated with clear anodize type II, class 1 would "yellow"? when components mounted on the plate were removed you could see very clearly the outline of the part where it was mounted then all around it was yellow, the staining was restricted to one side only (the outward facing side).
