Surface Finish In ECM.

2001

Hi!

i am currently researching upon "electromachining" using a 25%NaCl solution, using a brush plating type stylus (copper) for stock removal and a cathodic "wrap-up" of sponge.Appreciable stock removal is achieved BUT the surface is marred with "Wild cutting marks".. a finish between a pitted surface and a wavy type surface .I suspect it is due to inadequate venting of anode for disposal of evolved gases. Can it be solved with pressurised air-supply via the Cathode through the sponge material ?
