Help blueing Winchester

I just recently bought a winchester commemorative rifle, that had been used for hunting, the (blueing) is badly worn . I have been told I can't reblue the gun because its nickel plated. How can I blacken it ?

But the nickel was finished in blue, or how would it have been worn off? Have you been told you cannot reblue because the technique is unavailable for the hobbyist, or what am I missing?

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
