Lacquer repair question

I bought a lacquer finished tray at a garage sale. It has a cloudy, white water ring stain on it. Do you know how to repair this?

If you think that the old finish and the tray are worthless, you can strip the lacquer with paint remover [on eBay or Amazon] , or loosen it in hot wood cleaner, like trisodium phosphate [on eBay or Amazon].

Take off the finish and you could be destroying any value of the piece.
