Hardness of Silver Electroplated Deposits for Engineering Use
2000
Hello,
We are an automotive switch manufacturing company based in Malta. Part of the production process involves silver electroplating of the terminals used in the switches. We are currently seeking information on hardness variations of the silver deposit. How can the hardness of the silver plating bath be varied? Does it involve the change of the electroplating solutions? How is the hardness measured? I would appreciate any advice you may have on this issue.
Thanks

Hello Daniela,
The standard starting point for such questions is Safranek's
"Properties of Electrodeposited Metals and Alloys

which has a sixteen page chapter on silver plating, and offers 58 references.
