9 kt gold solder composition

Quickstart:
Pure gold is rarely used in jewelry due to both cost and softness; rather, lower purity gold is usually used, and its purity rated by "karat". Pure gold is 24 kt, 12 kt gold is 12/24 gold, 9 kt gold is 9/24 gold, etc.
Jewelry and other precious metal objects must occasionally be soldered, and due to labeling laws in most countries, we are often not free to simply use any solder, but must use karat gold solders to maintain the purity.

A. Hi kirtikumar,

If you already have some, please ask the supplier for its composition. Ganoskin lists 9 kt as having 18% cadmium. They say 9 kt cadmium-free is available, but they don't offer the composition.

Their cadmium-free chart starts at "10 kt easy" with:
41.67% gold, 27.10% silver, 20.90% copper, 5.33% zinc, 2.50% tin, 2.50% indium
