Q. I am looking for a spec or technical information on DS30000. The document lists the color but only notes to see DS30000 for finish code...
Please help!

A. Hi Theresa

Sorry, it means nothing to me. Can you tell us what kind of document you are referring to? A drawing? Do you know what company wants it to this spec? Do we know if it relates to paint or anodizing or whatever?

Luck & Regards,

A. Theresa,
A search of DoD MIL specs shows a few starting with "DS" but none with a number 30000 or anything similar. Outside of DoD and its fairly wide variety of designations, I would expect the "DS" to probably relate to the publisher of the specification. For designations not immediately identifiable as one of the big standard development organizations, it's usually an internal spec from the end user company.

In any event, in a sane world I should expect the provider of the part drawing to be able to provide copies of all specs referenced on the drawing, or at least be able to tell you where to go to get a copy. If it's all so old that they don't know either, that's a sign of larger problems, I suppose.

Google thinks DS30000 is primarily an Epson printer, but with further digging I found some references to it being either a part number (for a sleeve bearing) or a specification (for aircraft finishes) connected to Lockheed Martin. Assuming that's plausible given the type of part in question, I don't particularly know where to go about getting copies of Lockheed Martin specifications, but presumably their suppliers have access, which brings us back to the issue of asking whoever gave you the part drawing.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
