A. Hi. I thought coin rings were made from silver coins as illustrated in thread 21868. If not, what coin material are you trying to plate? The cupronickel skins on quarters? That will probably require, after manual scrubbing with a pumice solution, a dip in HCl, a Wood's Nickel Strike ⇦ huh? solution, and a silver plating solution.

You can search the site for instructions on how to make the highly acidic Wood's Nickel Strike from nickel chloride and hydrochloric acid, but you'll probably want to buy the silver plating solution from a vendor of such solutions rather than trying to make it from commodity chemicals.

Hopefully you know what you're doing and realize that most silver plating solutions are cyanide-based and how dangerous that means they are; if you accidentally mix the acidic Wood's Nickel with the silver cyanide you won't be the first person who died from that mistake. Please make sure you don't buy a cyanide-based silver plating process as a beginner.

Luck & Regards,
