How to determine plating defect vs. plastic substrate defect

Q. My company produced an ABS part then sent it to 3rd party for electroplating Copper-Nickel-chrome, my issue now: the planting supplier always claims that the Pit mark issue comes from the plastic part but when we check our retained sample we don't have that kind of rejection. Please advise how to remove the plating from ABS plastic.

You can use diluted nitric acid but please be careful.
