Sealing decorative chrome plating

Is it necessary to put a sealing coat on a plastic part after the plating of decorative chrome?

No. It's not only unnecessary, to my knowledge it is never done.

Dear Dan,

The sealing treatment is used when you obtain after metallizing on porous coating, such as the following metallizing procedures: arc spray, flame spray, plasma, HVOF. The sealing fill the small porous of the coating, but in your case, in my opinion is not necessary.
