What Ra or Rz Needed before Bright Plating?

Q. Hello I have a question: for metal plating processes such as nickel, what should be our surface roughness for a bright surface? is there any knowledge about this stuff? And which data we should we care about, I mean Ra, Rz, Rq ... ?
