Diamonds in my earrings turned yellow

Q. I have been wearing the same pair of diamond studs almost continuously for 35 years. I recently put them in a bath of jewelry cleaner with other jewelry and subsequently forgot them for a week, By this time it looked as tho' mold was growing in the jewelry clean. The gold of my platinum and gold wedding pan was actually corroded. My diamonds after several attempts to clean them or rinse them are now a yellow color. They sparkle but are yellow and not even the same color. My husband alone went to his jeweler and failed to relay the saga of how the diamonds had changed color. HE TELLS MY HUSBAND THEY ARE YELLOW DIAMONDS, CLEANS THEM AND SENDS THEM BACK. There is a long story why they mean so much to me and I never take them off rarely but to clean them. I am heartsick. Can anything be done?
