Possible to electrochemically deposit zinc on thin film of nickel?

July 3, 2014

Q. Dear Sir,

Is it possible to electrochemically deposit Zinc thin film onto a thin layer of electrochemically deposited Nickel.
I am desperate to know this for my academic research purpose.

Thank you

A. Hi Muhammad Safdar,
This does not seem to be a very common process but I would not expect it to be problematical since zinc is quite similar to cadmium in plating procedures & electrochemical behaviour, and it is frequently plated onto electroplated nickel.

A. Yes

It's possible to electrodeposit zinc on thin film of nickel.

Most commonly used type of electrodeposited zinc is acid type or acid zinc chloride.
