Plating machine for singulated units

October 7, 2013

Q. We are currently looking for the best machine for plating Sn and Nickel on small singulated units (60 x 30 mils). The base to be plated is dried and fired Ag paste on terminals which was done from previous process of Ag termination dipping. We currently use SBE (Spouted Bed Electrode) plating technology.I find it very slow to do the plating process for we are doing it by batch of two chambers and took us 1 hr in Nickel plating and 45 mins to complete 1 batch in Sn plating. Is there a continuous plating machine for singulated units? Or do we have technology other than spouted bed electrode that is faster? We already tried the RFT (rotary flow through) plater but this seem to be slower and harder to maintain. I appreciate any suggestion you can give. Thanks for your time.
