How to Analyze Chloroacetic Acids
July 24, 2013Q. Do you know of a method to analyze for chloroacetic acids (mono, di, tri)? Levels would be 1 to 100 µg/l or so.
Solution likely to be 2-4 gpl NaCl.
Thank you in advance.

A. Gas chromatography, after derivatization with diazomethane. An extraction step might be required as well.
You can likely adapt the "Standard Methods..." procedure for herbicides in water to this analysis.
