-----Was Drano test for sex of baby harmful?
Q. I am Doaa Nasr. I am 5 months pregnant. I did a Drano test to know the baby's gender (add two spoonfuls of Drano crystal and my urine; depending on colour of urine change detects baby's gender). It produced toxic fumes I smelled it and I am sooooo afraid that the fumes harm my baby. I can't sleep just thinking I harmed my baby.

A. Hi cousin Doaa. No harm was done at all, but do not repeat this. You could badly burn yourself with Drano -- it is very very caustic.

A. Sounds like an old wives' tale to me anyway. Snopes.com/pregnant/drano.asp agrees.
