Will CBN hard turning in lieu of grinding cause chrome plating problems?

Q. Dear all
Presently am doing a study on Hard Turning process or CBN Turning process. In this, we are trying to avoid grinding process on hard material and we made a trial for two numbers of hard turning, keeping the stock for hard chrome plating process. In this we are able to achieve all the dimensional and geometrical accuracy but wonder whether this will affect the plating process or plating defects like peel off and other.

A. Single point machining exerts far greater tearing forces and is more prone to vibrate at the natural harmonic frequency of the system. System rigidity, stability and control of every cutting parameter is the key. It is not easy to compete against millions or billions of cuts per second from thousands of cutting edges randomly attacking the surface at several points and high speed. Good luck and come back with your results,

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
