Why cadmium plate beryllium copper only to remove it?

Q. Dear friend
I have a problem with my research in university.
I have to produce a part to do my test.
Material is copper beryllium alloy.
Production method is:
1- blanking
2- cadmium plating
3- forming
4- cadmium removal
5- heat treating
6- finishing
Why do we use cadmium plating before forming and then remove after forming?
