PVD Chroming of Glass for EMI Shielding

March 22, 2012

Hello,

Based upon the semiconductor industry's usage of chrome on glass for photo masks, I've been considering using chrome on glass for complex EMI shields.

My questions are:
1. What are the safety implications for in-house PVD processes when depositing chrome?
2. Given that etching chrome is not a good idea for a non specialists, what sort of service should I seek?
3. Is there simply a better material (i.e. safer) that can give me a robust finish?

Best Regards,
