How to make silicon rubber parts with metallic look?

February 24, 2012

Q. Hi,
I'm looking to develop a kitchenware item out of silicon rubber but prefer to have in metallic finish. Is there any proven technology to give a bright chrome finish like look?

Whatever the finish we choose, It should be food-safe and able to withstand temperature up to 70° C and shouldn't peel-off from rubber while bending.
If silicon rubber is not suitable I'm happy to try other sort of mouldable rubbers.
Your help will be highly appreciable.
Thanks in advance.
