What type of plating or passivation process for 300 hours salt spray resistance?




Q. what type of plating or passivation process will withstand 300 hrs or more than 300 hrs of Salt spray test. Anybody kindly suggest asap.....

A. Hi, Syedu. Electroless nickel plating, especially high-phosphorous electroless nickel should do it easily. Gold plating would do it. Zinc alloy plating with a high quality proprietary chromate and topcoat can probably do it. Unfortunately, you probably need to consider a number of properties to select the type of plating; you probably can't pick a plating material from a single parameter, let alone an artificial one like salt spray resistance.
