Galvanized sheet metal planters are rusting

I have two large outdoor planters that I think are zinc coated sheet metal. They are beginning to rust and I would like to treat the rusted area with something that would stop the rust and also cover up the unattractive area. The rusting areas are at the seams only. Thank you
