-----Suggested way to color the two ends of a cylinder different colors
October 26, 2011
I work for a company in the welding accessory field. We have cylindrical shaped parts made of heat treated carbon steel. The raw material is sintered C 11. We are looking at methods of coloring the two ends of the cylinder. The problem is that each end should be a different color. E coating looks attractive, but I fear that the electrically charged processes make it difficult to select only one surface to treat. Is E coating a possible finish for us? Is it possible to dip the parts only half way in the bath? Are there other finishes which may be more suited?
