Removing metal grinding splatter impact from glass

Hi all,

I'm in a spot of bother and need some help rectifying some damaged glass caused through my carelessness of grinding steel too close to it.
I've been frantically searching the net for an acid that would perhaps react with the metal but not damage the glass any further.
I've come across nitric acid which although powerful and dangerous, when diluted looks like it may do the trick?

Can anyone support this find or should I just kick the window through ;-)

Hi, Ben.

The glass may be repairable, but not with acid. Please see letter 25852, then contact a glass repair specialist. Good luck.
