Brazing of C17510 Copper Alloy to TZM material

October 3, 2011

We are a company that fabricates nozzle tips used in the injection molding industry. We are attempting to fabricate a nozzle tip made of C17510 Class III BeCu with a small piece of TZM type wear material inserted into the tip. Our problem is how to attach the TZM in a secure manner. It has been suggested that vacuum silver brazing would be the way to go, but we do not know if this is possible and if so who to contact for further information. Any suggestions would be welcome

Thanks
Bob Duffy

Vacuum silver brazing is definitely an option to pursue. I suggest you contact Lucas-Milhaupt, Inc. about your application, as they have a great deal of technical expertise in brazing. Their website has a lot of free information too.
