Cleaning SS smut free

Hi. I have a question with regards to cleaning magnetic SS. We are doing medical parts that require a clean smut-free service. Our bath after a very short cycle builds up with a dark carbon-like substance. We inserted magnets in the solution and it removes this material. If we installed a rectifier with reverse current would this change the polarity of the SS so that the smut will not attach to the parts? Or do you have any other ideas that would work for us?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Please describe your treatment cycle. The part is likely anodic in your etch, so you wouldn't want to reverse the current and make it cathodic. That would cause more smutting not less. Good agitation and filtration will help.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
