Q. Hi,
We are currently changing our one of the aesthetic material from ABS to HIPS, but we can’t able to paint over HIPS, suppliers are saying that Raw material change from ABS to HIPS is affecting the painting, So please suggest some alternate painting, Paint used is graphite

A. The problem could be due to hydrophobicity of HIPS. Plasma treatment makes the surface hydrophilic and improve the adhesion (assuming that is the problem) considerably. This is an environmentally friendly technique extensively used in diverse fields such as electronics, biotechnology etc.
