Lacquer and Polyurethane compatibility

I have a cadmium plated steel part that is painted with an epoxy primer and an acrylic lacquer. The painters can no longer use the lacquer due to restrictions. Can the part be touched up using the same epoxy primer and a polyurethane? Or will there be adhesion problems between the lacquer and the polyurethane?

As epoxy and polyurethane possess outstanding adhesion properties you should notice an improvement in inter-coat adhesion. Note.. acrylic resins are normally water white you may notice a slight yellow tinge using polyurethanes.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
