Electroless Gold Plating vs Electrolytic Gold Plating

Hello,

I am trying to plate gold onto nickel. I was wondering if someone could inform me of the differences in surface roughness resulting from electroless plating or electrolytic plating. It is very important that I reduce the surface roughness as much as possible. Thank you for your time.
