How is 304 stainless steel 18/10 chrome/nickel for a kitchen sink?

Q. Hi, my name is Jeanne and I am in the middle of renovating my kitchen. Could anyone let me know if heavy 18 gauge 304 stainless steel 18/10 chrome/nickel is a good choice for a kitchen sink. I never realized there were choices other than the shape and size of a sink. Thanks!

Q. I am having my kitchen sink replaced with a stainless steel under mount sink. I wanted a 18/10 grade sink, but my contractor said that the 16/ grade is better and stronger. Is he correct?

A. Hi Cynthia. You're probably talking different languages. You are talking about the type/grade of stainless steel you want, but I suspect that your contractor may be suggesting that he would like to use a 16-gauge sink, rather than one made of 18-gauge thick material. 16 gauge is heavier, stronger, and more dent-resistant.
