Brightness Standards for Ni Plated Finishes

What is/are the ANSI or industrial standard for Ni plating brightness (finishes)? Can a plater consistently hold this same level of brightness between lot? If so what measure must he hold to in his process. Is there an aesthetic standard of brightness much like the standards used in matching color between lots of molded parts.

There is no reason why you could not ask your plater to keep the specularity within a range shown by a set of sample parts. This new requirement must needs be added to the contract. Most platers can tighten up their process to decrease variation. If your work is plated at more than one plater, just make several sets of the standards. tom
