Electropolishing on Moulds/Dies

Hi! I wanted to know whether the "electropolishing " process can be applied successfully to polish Plastic injection moulds and dies of various metals such as lo-carbon/high carbon steels, alloy steels, WPS,OHNS, etc.. currently in use for manufacture of moulds and dies. If so please could you direct me to certain literature on this topic. Regards S.J.Mordecai

Yes! It appears that electropolishing a surface before plating is an excellent way to prepare the surface for adhesion.

I believe that you want to restore worn or damaged moulds for reuse. A literature search should reveal many references for you. Please see www.finishing.com/consultants/ for a literature search and/or help in setting up an electrolytic polishing operation.
