Repairing Coating on Aluminium Grooved Traverse Drum




i have a spinning machinery rigid part named as GROOVED TRAVERSE DRUM which is aluminium alloy die-casted and yarn passes from the grooves during winding yarn to a cone. There is a coating (light nickel color) over this part which is very hard even more hard than hard anodizing. The coating has been damaged and I want to repair it by applying re-coating. please tell what is the coating type and what is method for re-coating.

Looks like hard chrome plating to me, and that would not surprise me for machinery of this sort.
