-----Blackening pewter jewelry
Q. I am trying to blacken pewter jewelry, tried liver of sulfur did not work. Could anybody advise a solution which can be purchased rather them made (needs to be commercial size package)

A. Try 20%iron (III) chloride solution (objects must be grease and oxide free!). At internet archive you can download/free!/ very good old book on metals colouring by Arthur Hiorns; there you can find small chapter on colouring of tin and pewter. Hope it helps and good luck!
