Grey colour finish on Tool holders

Recently I have seen that the machine tool holders are given bright matte finish instead of black oxiding. Can somebody suggest what is that coating all about ? How it is achieved ?

Hi, Murthy

Your question is doubtless clear to you, but we'll need more on this end. You are looking at something that you can only describe as "bright matt" and asking us what it is?

I sounds similar to the cabinet knobs in my kitchen.
It is probably grit blasted with a fine abrasive, black oxide and then a clear coat. It is not very durable when compared to nickel or chrome.
