Annealing or Temperature Effect of Silver Plating

August 4, 2010

Would like to find out the typical annealing temperature for Silver Plating (brightener added)?
And, will also need to find out at around 250~350 deg C of temperature treatment (like 2-10 minutes), will the silver plating experience recrystallization and recovery that will reduce the hardness?

Hi Camelia,
Typical annealing temp for Ag plating is ~120 deg C for 2-4 hours. At around 250-350 deg C, Ag may recrystallize a bit and reduce its hardness slightly. However, 2-10 mins shouldn't have significant impact on hardness.

Best regards,
David
